Biomechanics
Gait Analysis
An evaluation of the lower limb is taken with a series of measurements of the hips, knees, ankles and feet being recorded. The range of motion within the respective joints are tested and this details a profile of any present mechanical imbalance.
Where appropriate, orthotics (shoe inserts), can restore the imbalance by correcting the alignment of the structure of the feet and legs, and create a more symmetrical and balanced gait cycle.
Orthotics
An impression is made of the feet and then sent to the labs where it is scanned with lasers to get the exact topography of the contours of the arches.
A shell is then manufactured to recreate an identical impression of the cast and the required postings and corrections are added as per the prescription from the biomechanical assessment.
We will then arrange an appointment to get the orthotics fitted.
Laser Therapy
Low Level laser therapy (LLLT) is the use of a specific wave length of light that is red and near infrared. The benefits of laser therapy are:
-
Bio-stimulation / increased tissue regeneration
-
Reduction of inflammation
-
Reduced levels of acute / chronic pain
-
Antibacterial / antiviral
-
Nerve stimulation
In clinical applications LLLT can be used to treat lesions, wounds, sports injuries, arthritic joints, achilles tendonitis, knee injuries, plantar fasciitis and verrucaes.
During the treatment there is no requirement for the use of drugs or surgery. It is a completely painless non-invasive technique. Some patients may feel a warming sensation or tingling. This is primarily due to an increase in cellular energy output where the laser is applied and is completely normal.
Laser therapy is the most advanced clinical treatment currently available to treat damaged tissue i.e. aches, sprains, and tears.
